Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 Gets Highest Rank in AV-Comparatives’ “Whole Product” Dynamic Testing

Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 achieved the AV-Comparatives Advanced+ rating (highest possible) from AV-Comparatives Whole Product Dynamic Testing.

On a continuous daily basis, AV-Comparatives subjects antivirus software to stress tests, with scenarios that closely resemble real-life situations. In the tests covering the second half of 2011, Kaspersky Lab’s product earned the highest rating – Advanced+ – one of the top-three security solutions to have successfully blocked more than 99% of widespread threats.

The test lab’s experts simulated real-life situations, covering both widespread and also previously unknown malicious objects. Scenarios included visiting malicious web pages, and downloading infected executable files. The overall results included both the number of actual threats detected and as well as the number of false positive reactions to clean objects.

After four months of testing, Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 had successfully blocked 99.3% of the malicious objects. Kaspersky Lab’s product has also proved to be one of the best on the number of false positive detections. AV-Comparatives recorded only one case where an object deemed clean was considered suspicious by the program. Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 in fact displayed a warning when trying to open a certain website. For a long period of time this particular domain had been commonly used to distribute malware, so displaying the alert to the user in this case was in fact justified.
